Understanding assist levels on your Charge E-Bike
“What pedal assist level should I be riding at?” - It’s one of the most frequent questions we hear from new e-bike riders, and the good news is, there’s no one right or wrong answer. That said, there are a number of factors to keep in-mind when choosing the level of pedal assist on your Charge e-bike.
While high levels of assist may be appealing, they also deplete the battery faster than lower assist levels, so your overall assist range is reduced. Instead of going for maximum assist all the time, your goal should be to strike the right balance between the motorized assist and the power you’re putting through the pedals. Consider the length of your ride and the terrain you’ll be riding, and remember, you can always increase or reduce your assist level with the controller, so you’re not locked into a single choice.
If you’re the type of rider who likes to choose one setting and leave it there, your Charge e-bike has an ‘Eco’ assist mode. In this mode, the motor controller determines the right assist level based on real time factors including battery level, your power output and speed, among others.
